ANNIVERSARY MEETING. "A WONDERFUL ORGANISATION." The celebrations in connection with the eighty-fourth anniversary of the establish ment of the Methodist Church in Auck land, and the sixty-fourth anniversary '>l Pitt Street Church, were brought to a successful conclusion last - evening, when past and present members of the church were entertained at a tea meeting, which was followed by addresses by the Rev Dr. H. Ranston, president of the Methodist Conference, and the Rev. T R B. Woolloxall. The Rev L. B. Dal by presided. Speaking on "Methodism of the Future," Dr. Ranston said that although the Methodist Church was not yet 200 years old, it was the largest Protestant church in the world, there being no fewer than 44.000,000 adherents of the church throughout the world 'The Methodist Church is truly a wonderful organisation," he said "1 believe Methodism of the future will be greater than in the past I would despair if it were not so Dr Ranston referred to the great work of John Wesley, the founder of Method ism "The Church can do magnificent work in this country if we are true to its principles," he said Pitt Street Church was the mother ot the Methodist churches in Auckland He mentioned the great work rendered by its members, making special reference to the work in the Sunday school Choral and congregational singing was conducted during the evening.
