NEW WHAKATANE BUILDING. PUPILS TAKE POSSESSION. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT, j WHAKATANE. Tuesday After having been taught for eight months in marquees, as a result of the Whakatane District High School having been burned down last January, three classes took up their quarters yesterday in the new school, which is nearing completion. The new school is situated on a 10-acre site recently acquired. It has a northeasterly aspect, thus getting the fullest advantage of the daylight, while the ven tilation is all that could be desired. There are five large classrooms, built in a row,, with a iong corridor at the back. The plans provide for three more classrooms when the attendance warrants. There are folding doors between two classrooms and these two rooms can thus be used as an assembly hall. There are also rooms for the headmaster a6d the st&n. Two other classes, at present taught elsewhere, will go into the new school next week.
