MOUNT ALBERT AND THE CITY.
Sir, —As a ratepayer of Mount Albeit, I attended one of trie demonstrations against the council in connection with the engineer's dismissal. It v. as urged in some quarters that we should join the city. I want to warn my fellow-ratepaye.s that ;il! is not smooth for dwellers in the city. During a visit this week to a friend in Epsom, 1 saw a section which rcstmblcd cabbage tree swamp on a smaller scale, lit it was sur; ouneed t»y p:o;-rr.y v.. I is very heavily rated. T was mfoimed it I s in that condition all 1: o -ch the \ inter ; and also duiing a good rait of the- suni- ! mer. Wilding Avenue, aiso a good residential pai t f»f Epsom, is also impassible, after every heavy downfall of rain, and the sections and houses on the lower side of the street are also flooded. As Epsom has been part of the city for a great number of years, I mention these conditions as illustrative of what the City Council thinks of its own ratepayers. T. E. Carrol. | Mountain Road. Mount Albert.
