MOTUIHI ISLAND.
Sir, —The Ministry is determined to keep Motuihi island as a quarantine station, according to the report in Monday s Herald [» seems a thousand pities that such a beautiful island a few miles from Queen Street should not lie the people's' marine park. What is the matter with Motntaj u or Rakino Island as a marine f ark and v. hat wou.d Sydney give to own such health resorts ! Being a vachting man 1 have never seen mo.« beautiful islands at the from door of any city in the world than Auckland possesses Aucklanders should wake up and bv some ways or means the municipal authorities should secure an island or two, lav out golf links, tennis courts, bathing sheds; also accommodation houses, where people cijuld go with their families and spend a cheap holiday Now is the time to tackle such a scheme before the islands of this irulf are bought un bv wealthy Americans.
