FEEDERS FOR RAILWAYS.
MOTOR ROAD SERVICES. POWER TO RUN SOUGHT,. BRITISH COMPANIES' PLANS. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. (Received September 21, 5.5 p.m.) Sun. LONDON. Sept. 21. Four of the British railway companies have each drafted a bill under which power is sought to run motor services. Thev intend depositing these bill* as soon as Parliament meets again in November. The companies also propose to invest capital in existing motor services and enter into agreements with them. It is claimed by the companies that their projected road feeders to railway stations would cheapen the costs of transport and provide more complete passenger services. They base iheir right to the roads on the assertion that they are the largest individual contributors to road construction and maintenance. The railway unions are supporting the companies. However, the Westminster Gazette says it understands the bills will meet with determined opposition from powerful road transport interests.
