NEW PRAYER BOOK.
VIEWS OF FREE CHURCHES. SOME APPREHENSION FELT. (Received September 21, 8.55 p.m.) Times. LONDON, Sept. 20. The Federal Council of the Evangelical Free Churches has replied to a request from a Parliamentary Sub-Committee for its Views on the revised Prayer Book. The council sent a resolution it had carried to the effect that features of the book had aroused serious apprehension, particularly the proposals in regard to the reservation of the sacramental elements. This was especially feared in view of the abuses the council considered to be wideiy prevalent at present in the Anglican Church. The final attitude of the Free Churches will be determined by the adequacy of the specific guarantees given by the Anglican authorities to limit not only what is permissible but what is actually permitted in the Church of England.
