EXTENSION OF TRAMWAYS.
THREE PROPOSALS MOOTED* NO DECISION YET REACHED. Proposals to extend the tramways *yatera to AvoncWe, Point Chevalier and beyond the were briefly discussed at yesterday's meetmg of the Tramways Committee of the City Council, but further consideration was deferred until the next meeting * fortnight hence. The chairman, Mr. .J. A* 0. Atlum, stated that representatives of the Ilerauera East Ratepayers' Association had conferred with the committee, but, in view of the fact thai', the annua! meeting r>i the association will he held this evening, it was deemed advisable to ascertain from that sow ice the feeling# of resident* as to the district's anticipated requirement* In the ca*e of A vcndala a careful inves'igaliott will he necessary, and the cons.elation* will involve the praetc«hib!y of ntillsing trackless trams, pretaibly as extension of the Mount Albert . r«xite, which appear* to hold certain advantage? over an extension to Avondale via ' >'»> Lynn.
