FAT STOCK MARKET.

WEEKLY WESTFI ELD SALE. DECLINE IN BEEF VALUES. HIGHER PRICES FOR LAMBS. There was a much larger yarding of beef at the Westfield fat stock sale yesterday, and although several lines of extra prime cattle were offered, the demand was less keen and there was a sharp drop in values. Sheep were penned in average numbers and met with a steady demand, although generally values were slightly lower. The offering of spring iambs met with keen competition and sold readily at improved values. A few extra prime made up to 3Ss, this price being paid for a Suffolk-cross lamb. Calves were yarded in increased numbers and values declined considerably on late quotations. The number of fat pips offered was in-, sufficient for buyers' requirements, and competition, opening keenly, was responsible for higher prices, although there was an easing tendency toward the close.
