NORTHCOTE BOROUGH.
FIRE BRIGADE MATTERS. A scheme for an electric fire-alarm installation was placed before the Northcote Borough Council by the Municipal Fire Brigade on Tuesday evening. Consideration was deferred. The Birkenhead Borough Council wrote suggesting that, as the Northcote council desired the proposed report on a joint fire brigade scheme should be more comprehensive than Birkenhead intended, the cost of the report should be equallydivided between the two councils. It was dscided to reply regretting the council could not agree to the report being obtained on the terms indicated. The draft agreement to be entered into between the boroughs of Devonport, Takapuna and Northcote for a combined refuse destructor was referred to the Finance Committee.
