TAURANGA HOSPITAL.
SENILE DECAY PATIENTS. QUESTION OF ACCOMMODATION. [BY TEIjEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAURANGA. Wednesday. The Tauranga Hospital Board met toiflay, Mr. T. Lochhead presiding. The Director-General of Health forwarded a circular in reference to tho accommodation of parsons suffering from senile decay. It was decided that the attention of the Minister of Health be drawn to the urgent need of providing suitable accommodation for old people and chronic cases in the Bay of Plenty district, and suggesting that inquiries be made as to the accommodation available at Rotorua for such cases; also, that the Bay of Plenty, Opotiki, and Waikato Hospital Boards be asked to co-operate in support pf the suggestion. Members unanimously decided that they were not in favour of hospital boards taking over Government sanotaria for the treatment of tuberculous patients. It was decided to utilise the board's own land adjacent to the Tauranga Hospital for the supply of milk and vegetables to the hospital. A committee was appointed to make f the necessary arrangements for establishing the scheme. The Tauranga County Council and Te Puko Town Board each forwarded objections to the proposal of the board to raise £ISOO by way of loan. The secretary of the Hospital Board said the loan was included in the current year's estimates, and was not a fresh loan. It was decided to .communicate further with the contributing bodies and furnish details of the proposed loan. The special committee which is holding investigations in regard to hospital affairs, reported that certain evidence had been taken but the committee was not yet in a position to submit a report.
