ONE TREE HILL AFFAIRS.
SOUTH ROAD CONTRACT. The One Tree Hill Road Board met last evening, the chairman, Mr. R. G. Clark, presiding. The concreting of the Great South Road from Rockfseld Road to the Harp of Erin was proceeding at a good pace, reported the engineer. The road was paved the ftill width from Greenpark Road to Rockfield Road. The kerbing and channelling of Green Lane and Pukenui Road had been commenced. Permission to erect dye works in Puriri Avenue was refused. The Auckland and Suburban Carriers" Association .wrote requesting the board to reconsider its decision to Classify the roads in the district. On the recommendation of the Works Committee, the engineer was instructed to regrade the roads to first, second and third-class, instead of classes one to four, as at present proposed. The engineer was also asked to confer with the Ellerslie Town Board with a view to co-ordinating the systems of both boards. It was decided to support the proposal for the proposed joint committee regarding town plannine, provided the City Council agreed that half the representatives should be nominated by the council &od ijaii by iha jßiburbJUJ local bodm.
