JEWISH CEMETERY.
COMMUNAL HALL SCHEME. PROTEST AGAINST PROPOSAL. The decision of the Auckland City Council to consent to legislation which will vest in the Hebrew congregation an area of 20 perches in the Jewish Cemetery, Karangahape Road, for the erection of a communal hall, was viewed with alarm and strongly protested against at a meeting of the combined groups of the Auckland centre of the Protestant Political Association last evening. Mr. H. H. Seabrook presided. A resolution was passed expressing strong disapproval of the City Council's attitude, and expressing the opinion that the land was a public reserve and should not be touched. It was decided to forward a copy of the resolution to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Internal Affairs and the City Council.
