THE HELENSVILLE CLUB.
OFFICE-BEARERS ELECTED.
The annual meeting of the Helenßville Amateur Swimming Club was presided over by the president, Mr. J. K. Stewart. The report and balance-sheet disclosed a satisfactory position, the club having had a visit during the season from all the leading swimmers in Auckland, while local swimmers competed with success in carnivals in Auckland and Dargaville. Owing to bad weather, the carnivals were not as well attended as was expected, the balancesheet showing a profit of £6 17s 2d. It was decided to hold a concert at an early date, at which the fine collection of cups and trophies won during the season would be presented, the profits to go_ toward the tuition of schoolchildren in swimming. The election of officers resulted:—Patroness Mrs. T. Keane; president, Mr. J. K. Stewart; vice-president, Mr. F. F. Heldt; secretary and treasurer. Miss R. Coutts,; club captain, Mr. R. Sellars (men). Miss E. Eddleßtone (ladies); committee, Messrs. A. Brackebush, H. Pengelly, H. R. Hill, Mrs. McMurdo and Miss Z. Menzies; judges. Messrs. F. F. Heldt. A. I. McLeod. D. Quarrie; starter, Mr. A. Brackebush; timekeepers, Messrs. J. K. Stewart, J. A. Stana way, H. B Hill; handicappers Messrs. H. Pengelly, J. K. Stewart, J. A. Stanaway: education officer, Mr. H. R. Hill. A motion to have one handicapper instead of three was lost. It, was decided to hold a life-saving class aoart from the club night and to affiliate with the Auckland Life Saving Centre.
