TO-DAY'S WEATHER. # ' HERALD'S SPEC.'AL FORECAST. Tho following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— Unsettled and showery weather is indicated; particularly in districts bordering on the West Coast; but a general improvement :n conditions is expected shortly, fine weather following. Winds variable, southerly to south-easterly prevailing. Seas moderate. Barometric pressure,, which has been moderately low over -the Dominion during the last few days, will increase generally, as a system of high atmospheric conditions is approaching from the west. There is a prospect of fine weather prevailing for about 36 hours. The disturbance of combined tropical and Antarctic influences is now passing eastward. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 29.801n. Midnight, Tuesday .. .. 29.85 in. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —Present indica tions are tor strong west to south-west winds northward of VVestport and Kaikoura and southerlies prevailing else where; weather cloudy and unsettled gen erally, with rain in many parts of tho country Tho barometer is unsteady, biit should rise soon.
