INFECTIOUS DISEASES.
AUGUST NOTIFICATIONS. PNEUMONIA TROUBLESOME. The return of infectious and other notifiable 4 diseases in the Auckland p r0 * vince for August shows a total of 198 cases, compared with 217 in July. Diphtheria decreased from 63 cases to 56. but pneumonia increased from 46 to 51. Of the diphtheria cases, 31 were notified fro" 1 the Central Auckland health district, but the distribution controverts any suggestion of an epidemic. The following are notifications of other diseases, the July figures being S' ven J° parentheses:—Scarlet fever, 12 (25) » tuberculosis, 29 (40); pneumonic enza, 9 (7); puerperal fever, 13 enteric fevar, 8 (10).
