COLLISION AT CROSSING.
DEATH OF MOTORIST. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] PALMERSTON NORTH. Wednesday. An inquest wus held to-day concerning the death of Owen Sandilands Tyerman at a level crossing on Friday, when his car collided with a train. The evidence showed that the driver of the train sounded the whistle when approaching the crossing, of which Tyerman had a clear view. One witness expressed the opinion that Tyerman tried to stop the car, but his foot slipped off the clutch. The coroner, in returning a verdict that Tyerman died of injuries received in a collision with a train, emphasised the fact that motorists should be more careful at crossings.
