RECORD EXPLOSION.
MOUNTAIN TOP REMOVED.; OPERATION IN ITALY. LONDON, Aug. 21. One of the greatest organised explosions known was successfully carried out during mining operations in the Ancona province, ssys the Rome correspondent of the Daily Mail. Four tons of high explosive were placed under the top portion of a mountain and fired by an electric spark. The explosion dislodged 400,000 tons of rock. When the button was pressed the whole top of the mountain rose, swelling as it ascended, and, gradually breaking into a number of pieces, crashed into the valley with a deafening roar.
