AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE LARGE VOLUME OF BUSINESS. Thm;e was a marked all-round activity on tho Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, and an unusually lai'ge volume of business was' recorded. '' Government securities Avere not greatly in demand War Loans, 1958 , 4J, per cent., had inquiry at £96 ss, Sellers £96 10s. Sellers of Inscribed Stock, 1933, per cent., dropped from £IOO 15s to £IOO 12s 6d at noon, but' went back to £IOO 15s in the afternoon, buyers £IOO 10s. Business was again done in New Zealand Breweries debentures at 23s 9d. , . In ' banks Commercials of Australia changed hands at 27s 7id, Jjd below the latest, price obtained last week. Nationals of New Zealand were available at £6 17s at the final call, buyers £6 15s. Quotations of £44 and £43 10s for Now South Wales showed a decline of 5s compared with Wednesday. In insurance South British, which sold earlier in the week at 58s, found a purchaser at 58s 3d. In loan and agency business was done in Abraham and Williams, preference, at 84s', as compared with 80s at the last sale early in May. Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering A preference shares sold at 17s, the price obtained for them last June, and the B preference issue at 14s lid, the rate that has been current this week, fn coals Taupiris brought 24s 7d, and more were sought at that figure, sellers 255. The preference shares were done at 245. In, shipping Northerns changed hand? at 14s 6d, :at both first and last calls, as compared with 14s 3d last .w.eek. The contributing issue was Salso a shade firmer, changing bands at 6s Bd, with further in-, quiry at that prjee. In timber sellers of Kauris declined to 25s 3d, but buyers would not gobeyond <24s 9d. . In miscellaneous buyers of Amusement Parks advanced to 14s, sellers dropping from i 14s 9d to 14s_ 6d. Business i was done in British Tobaccos at 54s 6d„ as,against 55s 6d last week, Colinial-Sugar quotations wpre unchanged. , New Zealand Drugs, sold at 64s 3d a month ago, wore done at 63s 9d. Wilsons; Cement again sold ,at 35s 3d. ; , . . | , In mining Wathis sold at 19s 7d, an improvement of Id on the best price last week.
