TO-DAY'S WEATHER. f «. HERALDS SPECIAL , FORECAST. Tha following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— A general improvement in conditions is expected, fine weather prevailing, with the exception of a few clearing showers, in districts bordering-on the west .coast. The recent disturbance of combined tropical and Antarctic influences is now passing away ,> eastward. An area of high barometric pressure, embracing a fine weather system, is. approaching f rom the west. Indications favour mainly fine weather prevailing during the week-end, with colder; nights. Southerly to south-easterly winds, moderate to strong, decreasing. Seas moderate. Barometric pressure will increase further generally, becoming high over the North Island. Barometer, midnight, rising .. 29.95 in. Midnight, Wednesdny .. 29.50 in. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows Present indications are for strong but decreasing southerly winds, veering shortly to westerly and north-westerly, southwards, of Ne.w, Plymouth and Castlepoint. . The weather will be cold and changeable generally, with', scattered showers, but improving," especially 'in the northern and East Coast districts. The barometer is rising but will fall temporarily in the southern districts soon.
