RECENT SLIP AT KARAKA.
CLOSE WATCH BEING KEPT. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] PUKEKOHE. Wednesday. The scene of the recent slip in the Karaka railway cutting is being closely watched, in view of the rain of the past few days. Following the thunderstorm last evening the weather became showery again, and early this evening steady I'ain was falling. Sheuld it continue some apprehension is felt lest there be a further fall of earth. The position was deemed fairly safe at a late hour to-night, but it was stated that should the rain continue for another few hours the remaining debris from the previous slip might show a tendency to movement.
