DAVIS CUP CONTEST.
INTER-ZONE FINAL ROUND
FRANCE DEFEATS JAPAN

A. and N.Z.-Sun. NEW YORK, Aug. 27. In the inter-zone final round cf the Davis Cup contest France defeated Japan. In the doubles to-day Brugnon and Cachet, France, defeated Harada and Toba, Japan, 9—7, 6 —l, 6—2. France had won two of the singles. Gillou, the captain of the French team,* announces that the members may make a six-months' tour of Australia, South America and South Africa.
This tour is subject to the approval of the French Lawn Tennis Federation and depends upon Borotra's ability to arrange his business affairs. It is hoped to leave from Paris on October 15.
