CLUBS IN AUCKLAND.

PROGRESS OF CONTESTS. PLAY AT MIDDLEMORE. SENIOR AND JUNIOR MATCHES. Matches in the second round of the club championship and in the first round of the junior championship were played by members of the Auckland Golf Club at Middlemore on Saturday. Conditions were ideal for golf and the course was in good order. Club championship matches resulted as follows:—H. L. Rees beat R. 0. Gardner, 2 and 1; R. G. Rainger beat E L. Bartleet, 3 and 2. Following were the results of junior championship games:—B. C. Jacobs beat W. A. Fairclough, 4 and 2; J. F. Ewen beat H. D. Roberton, 7 and 6; B. C Hart beat J. K. Lusk, 6 and 4; W. Pavitt beat F. Wilson, 4 and 2; D, Polson beat J. G. Haddow, 7 and 6

FURTHER MATCHES DECIDED. Matches in the senior and junior championships of the Maungakiekie Club wera played at Titirangi on Saturday. Results are as follows: Seniors:—R. L. George beat W. L. Robinson, 3 and 2; A. E. Robinson beat T. A. Goulding, 3 and 2; J. M. Hunter beat J. M. Hockin, at the 20th. Juniors:—A. B. Joplin beat F. S. Ballin, 1 up at the 19th; H. S. Keesing beat I. B. Stewart, 1 up at the 19th. The second rounds of the junior and C grade championships of the club were played at One Tree Hill. The results are as follows: Junior:—F. W r . Wilson beat H. C. Spinley, 5 and 3; H. W'orsley beat J. S Rankin, 2 and 1. C Grade:—F. Newell beat W. Calderwood, 1 up; S. Gyllies beat S. Thornes, 4 and 3. The semi-finals will be pLiyed next Saturday.
