OBITUARY.

BARON MANNERS. A. and N.Z.-Sun. LONDON. Aug. 19. The death* has occurred of the third Baron Manners, aged 75. The late peer was the only member of the House of Lords who had ridden trie winner of the Grand National Steeplechase. He won on Seaman in 1882. Baron Manners was the third bolder of this title Another branch of the Manners familv holds the earldom of Rutland, with the peerage of Baron Manners ofHaddon and the earl's second son is cailed Lord Manners by courtesy. The lato peer was born in 1552, and succeeded at the age of 12 He vvas at Trinity Cohege, Cambridge, and was in the Guards. He is succeeded by his son. Captain brancis Henrv Manners, who was at Eton and in the Guards, and served in the war.
