DEFEAT OF MANAWHENUA.

AUCKLAND TEAM'S SUPERIORITY

SIXTH SUCCESSIVE VICTORY. The Auckland Rugby representative team gained its sixth successive victory this season by defeating Manawhenua at Eden Park on Saturday by 17 points to 0. Early in the game it was evident the visitors intended to make the match a forward one, thereby Keeping - the ball away from the fleet Auckland backs. To a certain extent the visitors succeeded in this respect, but aiter half-time Auckland gradually demonstrated its superiority, and added 14 points to its score. The ground was in a very heavy condi tion, being a quagmire in places. In spite of this handicap the Auckland backs plavei bright, open football, several of their movements nonplussing the opposition. Although playing against a solid forward line the Auckland pack held its own, and toward the end was clearly superior. About 7000 people watched the game.
