PAINTING COMPETITION.

One of the first things you will notice on " Boys and Girls " to-day, I know, is our second picture, " When the stars begin to peep." This is to complete our page for a new painting competition. There were so many excellent entries in the last competition, that it was very hard to pick the prize-winners, so this time, our competition is for those girls and boys who nave never won a painting or drawing prize. Nobody who has received any kind of prize, money, book, or mark-card, may compete, but the contest is open to " commended " competitors who received nothing more than mention. You must colour the picture heading, " Boys and Girls," and every picture on the page, as in the last competition. Every entry must bo accompanied by parents' guarantee of jriginal work. No assistance permitted. Six book prizes, boys and girls six to nine, ten to twelve, thirteen to fifteen. Closing date, September 3. Mark all envelopes " Painting Competition," and post flat. Do not rolL
