FIGHTING 500,000 BEES.
Bees have been known to swarm in many queer places, but one °f th» strangest eases was that of a swarm about half a million strong that settled beneath the ro'of of Rossington Ciwch, _ near Doncaster. So great was the noise ot their humming that it could be heara above the sound of the organ arid tfts voices of the choir and congregation. To remove tho bees an expert had to cut away a part of the roof. He discovered a solid mass of bees six feet 'V four feet. Smoke bombs had to be u * c to overcome the swarm, and only a m«s and gauntlets protected the man from tne infuriated insects.
