HEIFETZ CONCERTS.

WIZARD OF THE VIOLIN. There has been a large demand for seats tor the approaching two recitals of the distinguished violinist Heifetz, which are to take place at the Town Hall on Thursday and Saturday uights next. Special interest attaches to the initial recital from the fact that Heifetz will play, for the first time in Auckland, the valuable Guarnerius, which has a romantic history, and which has been described as one of the most wonderful instruments in the world. The programme to be submitted by this master player has been specially "chosen, and contains some of the most brilliant of musical gems. In addition it has variety, and should be found satisfying in every detail. Of a recent performance at Melbourne a critic wrote that his "Chaconne" (Vitali) was "delivered with an insistent passion that showed him to be moved by noble conceptions. "Of his playing of the Mendelssohn Concerto, it was said that "Heifetz's performance was, for sheer grace and eloquence, exquisite taste and refinement of expression, not likely to be improved upoji." Schubert's '"Ave Maria, at the hands of Heifetz "was an astonishing exhibition of wonderful skill and expression, and a revelation of finished violin artistry." It will he noted with undoubted pleasure that these compositions are included in the programme for Thursday. A noted pianist. Tsidor Achron, will be at the piano.
