WEEK-END WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast, for 48 hours,from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— Improving weather conditions are indicated, and there is every prospect of line weather prevailing during the week-end, although colder, with strong winds, southerly to south-ea-'arly winds, strong to- gale. Seas heavy on east coast of North Island. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 49.50 in. Midnight, Thursday .. .. 29.45 in. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —Present indications are. for southerly winds, strong to gale, northward of Westport and Lytteiton, and moderate to strong southorlics, backing to westerlies shortly, elsewhere. Expect cold and squally weather, and rain generally, and some further heavy rain with flooded rivers in many parts of the North Island. The cyclone has been centred over the middle portion of the North Island to-day. The barometer is likeK' to rise in the North, but to fall in t'iio South. RAINFALL RECORD.
