A charge of procuring liquor while prohibited was preferred against Lena Farrell. a jonnz married woman, in the Police Court, yesterday. The magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, ascertained from Senior-Sergeant Edwards that it was not her first breach of the order, and he warned her that it she appeared aeain on a similar charge she would be Sent to Pakatoa for two years. She was fined £5, in default one month's imprisonment.

Senior-Sergeant Edwards: She is not the Saint she makes herself out to be. The Magistrate: Of course she's not. Look at, her list. Sentence was passed on Eric Terence O'Shea and ,Frank James Arthur Duke, who had pleaded guilty to stealing a hat Valued at £2 ICs and an overcoat valued at £5 10s from citv dance hails. It- was stated Duke had been before the Court previously for converting a motor-car to his own use. but nothing was known against O'Shea, and the probation officer, Mr. W. Jj Campbell, thought he might bo given a chance. Duke was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon and O'bhea was placed on probation for two years. For attempting to pass over the Argvle Street railwav crossing when the line was not clear. J.'T. Dicken was fined £2 and costs. Mr. Hubble, who prosecuted, said the engine-driver sounded the whistle twice before coming to the crossing, as he could see the motorist about to go over, but defendant took no notice of the warning. , For failure to renew wireless licences fines of £5 and costs were imposed on J. E. Fitt, P. Jensen and C. Olsen. s'. Eade was fined £1 and costs for a similar cnence.

Owing to the fact that the summons Bad not been served, the two convictions and the fine of £lO entered against Cyril Max Becroft last Friday for selling milk adulterated with water were set aside.
