UNDERPROOF CORDIAL.

ECONOMICAL WITH LEMONS. "Perhaps they have been a little economical with their lemons," said Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday, when Tattley and' Company, Limited, were charged, with selling lemon squash cordial not complying with the standard prescribed by the regulations. Mr. V. N. Hubble, who prosecuted, said that at least two gj amines of citric acid were required in every 100 cubic centimetres. In the sample taken the test showed only 1.27 grammes present. For the defence it was stated that lemons had to be used for the addition of citric acid, and if there were too many lemons the cordial became bitter. The cordial had been mado according to formula, but the lemons must have been weak. A fine of £5 with costs was imposed.
