INCREASE IN MEMBERSHIP. THE ELECTION OF OFFICERS. A record membership was reported at the annual meeting of tho Auckland Real Estate Institute last evening. It was stated the organisation, formerly the Land Agents' Association, had now 165 members, of whom 141 were town members. Last year the total membership was 151. Tho annual report stated that 13 Auck land candidates for the examinations conducted by the New Zealand Institute had all passed. It was desired to encourage the examination movement as it had achieved much in raising tho status of the real estate business into a professional sphere. Satisfaction was expressed at the financial progress which had brought the accumulated fund to £2541 and the benevolent fund to £SOO. It was pointed out the institute had in forested itself in preventing the issue o. licences to unqualified persons. A number of objections lodged with the Court had resulted in either the refusal or withdrawal of several applications. Mr. P. J. Crump was re-elected president, and Messrs. W. J. Potter and T. Mclndoe were appointed vice-presidents Mr. J. Grey was elected country member, and five vacancies on the executive were filled after ballot by Messrs. H. Iv. Clay ton, 0. F. Mellars, H. Mowbray, S. Ben nett and P. Balgarnie. There was an attendance of over 100 at the dinner held at the Waverley Hotel. Among the guests of the institute were Mr. G. Baildon, Mayor of Auckland; Mr. 11. R. Mackenzie, chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board; Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M. : and several members of the legal profession.
