OBITUARY.

SIR ERNEST HATCH, (Received August 18, 5.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z.-Sun. LONDON. Aug. 17. The death has occurred of Sir Ernest Hatch, who was for many years a member of the House of Commons, aged 68. Sir Ernest Frederic George Hatch, the first Baronet, was born in 1859. He was Conservative member for the Corton Division from 1895 to 1906. He had travelled extensively in the Empire and especially in South Africa. On several occasions he was chairman of Departmental Committees, including the Government Commission for Belgian Refugees during the war, and ho was treasurer and chairman of University College Hospital. His wife, Lady Constance Gorlolphin Osborne, was a daughter of the 9th Duke of Leeds. There is no heir to the title.
