AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE. ACTIVITY IN BANK SHARES. There wot a considerable amount of business recorded on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, activity being specially noticeable in bank shares. Buyers of Inscribed Stock, 1934, per cent., adwnced by 5s to £96 ss, but holders were firm at £96 15s. There was considerable demand for other Government securities. Buyers of New Zealand Breweries debentures advanced to 23s 7d and sellers weakened to 23s 9d, without business resulting. Mount Albert Borough debentures. 1959, 6 per cent., again changed hands at £lO3.

•In banks Commercials of Australia again sold at 27s 6d. Nationals of New Zealand were done at £6 15s, the price that has been ruling all this month. There was further demand at this price, sellers asking 6d more. Business was done in National of Australasias at £l7 2s, as compared with £l7 2s 6d last week. New Zealands at 58s 3d had inquiry at 57s 9d. In insurance New Zealands sold at 40s 3d, with further demand at that price, sellors 41s. Wednesday's sale price was 40s. In Joan and agency Dalgetys sold at £l3 17s 6d. Goldsbrough, Morts, which sold a month ago at 47s 3d, changed hands at 45s 3d, and rights sold at 8s lid, compared with 8s 9d early in July. For Loan and Mercantiles £92 was offered, without response. In shipping Devonport Steams were available at 24s and Huddart-Parkers at 47s 9d. In timber business was done in Kauris at 25s 3d, as compared with 24s 6d at the end of May In miscellaneous an offer of 13s for Amusement Parks did not attract sellers. Holders of British Tobaccos asked £2 15s, buyers £2 12s 9d. Gear Meats sold at 36s 3d, the last recorded transaction being at 37s last November. The following sales took placo Mount Albert Borough, 1959, 6 per cent., £103; Commercial Bank of Australia, 27s 6d; National Bank of New Zealand, £6 15s; National Bank of Australasia £l7 2s; New Zealand In surance, 40s 3d, Dalgety and Company. £l3 17s 6d; Goldsbrough, Mort, 45s 3d, rights, 8s lid; Kauri Timber, 25s 3d; Gear Meat. 36s 3d.
