TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:—Cloudy and unsettled weather is indicated, with heavy rain in districts located northward of Napier. Rivers flooded Easterly to north-easterly winds, strong to heavy gale, backing 'by north and west to south. Heavy seas on east coast of North Island. The new disturbance referred to in yesterday's report has intensified considerably during the last 24 hours, and a cyclonic storm centre of great intensity has developed on the central Tasman Sea, moving southeastward. Stormy weather is expected, and coastal shipping between East Cape and Cape Maria is warned? Barometric pressure will decrease quickly in the north, but will increase everywhere again after about 12 hours. Conditions are likely to improve during the week-end. GOVERNMENT REPORT. • Tho Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—Present indications are for northerly winds, strong to gale, backing to southerly northward of New Plymouth and Napier, and south easterlies elsewhere; weather stormy with rain generally; heavy rain in the North Island, and the north-east districts of the South, and snow in tho high country. A cyclone has been situated to-day over the Northern Tasman Sea, and is now centred about 300 miles west of the Auckland peninsula. RAINFALL RECORD.
