STRIKE IN SYDNEY.

SETTLEMENT NOT REACHED, NEGOTIATIONS TO CONTINUE. (Received 'Aug. 18, 12.2(i a.m.) A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, Aug. 17. After the hearing of the cases against tho striking engineers in the Industrial Arbitration Court, the parties to the dispute mot to consider proposals for a settlement, but without result. Negotiations were continued to-day. The cases against the engineers, which were heard in the Arbitration Court, were adjourned sine die, in order to enable the parties to the dispute to confer. The conference was held in camera and was adjourned until to-morrow.
