AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE. MODERATE BUSINESS PASSING. There was not any exceptional activity on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, and the sales effected were spread over a variety of classes of stock. Inscribed Stock, 1938, per cent., was again offered at £96 15s buyers advancing to £96. Mount Albert Borough debentures, 1959, 6 per cent., sold at £lO3 at the noon call", more being available at £lO3 10s, buyers £lO2. In banks Commercials of Australia were done at 27s 6d, as compared with 28s the previous day. Buyers continued to offer 27s 6d, sellers 28s Nationals of New Zealand were again available at £6 16s, buyers £6 14s 6d. In insurance, business was done in New Zcalands at 40s, the most recent price, and there was an unsatisfied demand at that figure. In loan and agency a seller of Goldsbrough, Morts came on the market at the noon call at 9s, but buyers would not go beyond 8s 7d. In coals Pukemiros had demand at 60s, no sellers responding. In gas Aucklands sold at 22s Bd, a decline of 2d on last week's rate. Buyers of the contributing issue advanced to 16s lOd, and sellers came down to 17s, without business resulting. In breweries New Zealand shares sold at 42s 3d, as compared with 43s and 43s 3d last week. In miscellaneous Amusement Barks had inquiry at 12s 6d, sellers not quoting. British Tobaccos made a sudden upward movement. They were quoted at sellers 535. buyers 52s at the first two calls, but at the late call a buying offer of • 53s 6d brought 110 response.. A buyer of Colonial Sugars came on the market at £sl, sellers asking £52 10s A salo of Lewis R. Eady and Son, Ltd., preference took place at 20s 3d. The last sales, which were made last Febru ary, were at the same figure. Wilsons Cement changed hands at 34s 3d, a decline of 3d as compared with last week. In mining Kawaraus at lOd were wanted at VVaihis were available at 19s 6d, buyers 19s Id. The following sales took place:—Mount Albert Borough, 1959, 6 per cent., £103; Commercial Bank of Australia, 27s 6d; New Zealand* Insurance, 40s; Auckland Gas, 22s 8d; New Zealand Breweries, Ltd., 42s 3d; Wilsons Cement, I4s 3d; Lewis R Eady and Son, Ltd.
