LITTLE SHOAL BAY LOAN. PROPOSAL FOR SWIMMING BATH. The Birkenhead Borough Council met last evening, the Mayoi, Mr. E. G. Skeates, presiding. It was decided to ascertain the attitude of the Northcote Council regarding a joint loan of about £BOOO for Little Shoal Bay Reserve, which, it was stated, was considered necessary to complete the reserve. Subject to approval of the site by the Auckland Harbour Board, the construction of a swimming-bath on the waterfront of Hiriemoa Park was sanctioned as a loan proposal to be submitted to ratepayers. It was decided to take no action in regard to a letter from the Marine Boroughs Association on the subject of the suggested combined North Shore refuse destructor, the council having previously decided the destructor was not necessary for Birkenhead. The engineer is to report regarding the extent of improvements that could be effected in Hinemo.\ Park for £250. Tree-planting in Crescent, Carlton, Marama, 'Rawene arid Hinemoa Streets, and in Tui Park, and the civic reserve, was authorised. Four additional street-lights were decided upon, two'to bo placed in Vermont Road and one each in Glenfield and Hinomoa Streets. The question of further lights is to be reviewed in two monthsImprovements to the corner of Onewa and Glenfield Roads, at a cost of £6O, were authorised. A remittance of £2Bl was received from the city treasurer for heavy traffic licence fees for the quarter ended June 30. * Mr. O.
