MR. BLACK AT CROYDON.

TWO NEW RECORDS MADE.

The Baltimore newspaper proprietor, Mr. Van Lear Black, who has flown from Loudon to India and back, landed at Croydon to-day from Amsterdam. ,JMr. Black's flight totalled 18,600 miles —a record distance for a plane with a passenger. He also made record time from Europe to India, namely, nine days, compared with Sir Samuel Hoare's previous record of 11 days.

This is regarded as a striking illustra tion of the commercial -yal Uo of longdistance air transport. Mr. Black flew on 13 days out of the 16 days which the journey occupied.
