RUGBY REFEREES.

DISSATISFACTION IN WALES.

For some time there has been considerable dissatisfaction in Wales in the matter of the allocation of Rugby referees, "writes an English critic. Among the lesser lights there has been a feeling that they are not given the opportunities to which they think they are entitled in refereeing big matches. Mr. T. D. Schofield,- a member of the Welsh Rugby Union, is of the opinion that it is only right that Uiose who give their services for district league matches should liavo a chance on big grounds. This view is confirmed by Mr. A. E. Freethy (Neath), himself a referee of national reputation. Ho goos a stop further and states that the Welsh Union is failing in its duty if, when clubs object to referees, it does not insist upon inquiring into such objections. He is not enamoured with the present method oil appointing referees.
