POWERS OF LOCAL BODIES.

" Wdl the Government consider the advisability of promoting general legislation this session empowering local bodies to define any suitable area for road construction purposes on the lines, of the Hiitt Road scheme ?" asked Mr. Allen Bell (Bay of Islands) in the Housu to-day. The Minister of Public Works, Hon. K. S. WiU'ams, replied that the question was worthy of consideration and tb.e Government would ,go into it.
