TO-DAY'S WEATHER.

HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.

The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day -was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:—Unsettled weather is indicated, with further heavy rain, particularly in Northern and East Coast districts. Rivers flooded. Easterly to north-easterly winds, strong to gale, backing by north to west. Seas heavy. The tropical disturbance, which has resulted in the development of a cyclonic storm centre, is now centred northward of Cape Maria, moving southeastward. Barometric pressure will decrease further as the disturbance progresses, and become very low in the North. Conditions arc expected to improve temporarily in Northern districts after about 24 hours. Barometer, midnight, falling .. 29.80 in. Midnight. Sunday .. .. 30.15 in.

GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—Present indications are for easterly winds strong to gale northward of New Plymouth ana Napier and north-easterlies to south-easterlies increasing elsewhere; weather unsettled, cloudy and misty, with rain generally and heavy rain with rivers rising in the Northern and East Coast districts of the North Island. The barometer is falling in the North and is unsteady in the South.
