ALLEGED MAIL ROBBERY

FOSTER AGAIN REMANDED. CERTAIN FUNDS IN BANK. THE QUESTION OF DISPOSAL. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Thursday.

The question of the disposal of money lying to his credit at ibe Post Office Savings Bank again arose when Joseph Foster appeared on remand in the Magistrate's Court to-day on a charge of having stolen a mailbag containing ;EIO,OOO, the property of the British Government, from a London-bound express on February 2.

On the application of Chief-Detective Ward accused was further remanded for a week, a course to which counsel did not object. Mr. P. S. K. Macassey, who appeared for the Crown, said he understood that Mr. T. M. Wilford, who was representing accused, had made an application to have paid to Foster and his wife the money Li the bank at Hamilton. The magistrate, Mr. E. Page, said counsel had intimated that ho intended to do so, but had not yet given formal notice.

"I appear for Lloyd's Bank to oppose such an application," said Mr. T. C. A. Hislop. He added that he would like an opportunity to argue the matter. The magistrate said Mr. Hislop would be able to do so, but must first serve notice on the magistrate, who would consider the matter.
