LIBERATED SLAVES.

APATHY TO FREEDOM. •PRIVILEGES NOT SEIZED. (Received June 29, 7.50 p.m.) A. and N.Z. CALCUTTA, June 28. The Government of Burma intends to continue its policy of redeeming slaves, but the latter are vf?rv apathetic in taking advantage of their freedom. Although the Government paid over £17,000 in furtherance of the scheme of liberation, only 13 per cent, of those freed availed themselves of the privilege.
