BURGLARS' BUSY NIGHT.

THREE SHOPS ENTERED. SUMS OF MONEY STOLEN. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. 1 CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday. Thieves entered three shops in Edgeware Road, St. Albans, near the corner of Colombo Street, last night, and stole small sums of money. » A glass panel in Ihe door of the Christ - church North post office and fancy goods store was broken and an entrance was affected. Apparently the thieves were after money, but they secured only a few pence. A cheap watch was also taken. An unfastened window in a plumber's shop near-by proved a temptation and entering 'the premises the intruders stole £3 10s. A chemist's shop was also entered by a window being broken, but nothing was stolen. Last week the lock was wrenched off the door of H. 8.. Dunlop s siryill goods shops round the corner in Colombo Street, but the thieves desisted when an inner door was encountered. Ihe same night marks were made on the door of the shop of J. Woodward, boot importer, suggesting that an effort had been made to gain entrance.
