BOWLING.

PENNANT COMPETITIONS. NO CHANGE IN SYSTEM. VIEWS OF CLUB DELEGATES. Questions relating to pennant matches were discussed at the annual meeting of the Auckland Bowling Centre last evening. Mr. W. D. Kelly (Dominion Road) introduced a suggestion from his club with reference to the matches, "that each club taking part in these matches should be requested to select its players from the classification list and place them in the order classified." Mr. P. J. Scantlebury (Auckland) said he was entirely in favour of the present system. He pointed out the difficulties with regard to the system, and thought that a larger quota for each competing club might help to give more satisfaction. He moved that the executive should adopt the present system for nert season's mtitches. Several members spoke in support of the motion. Mr. M. McCallum (Remuera) said his club was not in favour of the pennant system. Mr. W. Ball (Carlton) suggested that if the present method was adhered to, all clubs should put in their full quota and give every member an opportunity to take part. Messrs. H. C. Clarke (Rocky Nook) and F. G. Hoaking (Avondale) spoke in favour of the best players taking part in pennant matches, and inter-club games being arranged at different times. Two members suggested that pennant matches should be divided into A and B grades. Mr. N. Mcßobie (Remuera) said he was not in favour of distinguishing between large and small clubs. Mr. A. H. Yeoman said the object of introducing the matches was to give the smaller clubs a chance. Members were taking the matter too seriously. They were imbued with too much of the spirit to win, as the matches were really interclub contests The motion was then carried. A motion by Mr. Mcßobie that the maximum number of a club's quota in pennant matches should be eight, was lost, and the number was left to the incoming executive to decide.
