AUTHORITY FOR SERVICES. SEVERAL APPLICATIONS GRANTED [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] HAMILTON. Thursday Matters affecting Hamilton transport were dealt with by the Hamilton Borough Council last evening sitting as the local motor-omnibus licensing authority. A number of applications were received for authority to conduct motor-bus services previously conducted by tho Watson Bus Company. After hearing the statements of applicants, tho chairman, Mr. J. R. Fow, moved that the applications be referred to the special bus committee. Mr. S. V. Tyler moved an amendment that, in view of the urgency of settling the Hamilton transportation problem, the matter be dealt with immediately. Mr. F. W. Luxford, chairman of the bus-committee, opposed the amendment, 011 the grounds that the committee would be in a better position to deal with the applications. . Various speakers were in favour of dealing with the matter immediately and the amendment was carried. On Mr. Luxford's motion tho meeting went into committee to consider the applications. On resuming in open meeting the\decisions arrived at were confirmed. Authority to conduct two services between Hamilton and Hamilton East, previously hold by the Watson Bus Company, was granted tho Jubilee Bus Company. The Blue Bus Company was granted authority to run two services previously conducted by the Watson Bus Company from Hamilton to Frankton and one service from Frankton to tho Waikato Hospital on Sundays. Applications by the Blue Bus Company to run services to Hamilton East were declined.

Mr. Luxford protested against the action of the committee in dealing summarily with bus licensing matters. Mr. Fow said he did not think the business had received tho attention that it would have had before a special committee.

There are now 10 regular buses engagod on Hamilton services against 14 before the withdrawal of tho Watson Bus Company. In addition two community buses are running a service from Hamilton to Claudolands.
