NAPIER PARK MEETING. CROWN COIN'S VICTORY. DEAD HEAT IN STAKES. MINT LEAF AND HUIKAI. [B? TELEGRAPH.—OWN COR RESPONDENT. ] NAPIER, Saturday. The Napier Park meeting was held today in bright sunshine, the track being in excellent order The attendance wag only fair, and speculation on the light side. Tho falls in the jumping races were not followed by serious results. In the Moieo Hack Hurdles Peneus wound up a slightly better favourite than Peshwa, with Arataura at a liberal price. Arataura led out from Peneus, Sweet Heather, Rakauponga and Mountain Top. Tho last-named ran off at the first fence, which Ballyfarnon and Lombardo run down, and both scrambled over the wing. Arataura was bowling along in front well clear of Peneus passing tho stands, with Sweet Heather, Rakauponga, Peshwa and Great Day following at intervals. Rakauponga lost his rider two fences from home, and Peneus uould not make any impression' on Arataura. who won by 10 lengths. Peshwa was 10 lengths away third, with Great Hay and Sweet Heather the only others to finish. Lombardo ran off at the last fence, and Ballyfarnon followed suit. J.ho placed horses should all be worth keeping in mmd. Merry Singer Unfortunate, The l'etanu Hack Steeplechase saw Hokioi favourite, with fair support lor Merry Singer. Woden, Kangi Barlo and Handy. JJokiol and Fairfield led to the hist tence. and once over Handy took , charge irom Woden, Merry Singer, Fairhehl anu Hokioi. with Kirkwood well back. There was little change over the hrst mile, except that fc airfield dropped out o£ the leading bunch, and liangi Sarto moved up a little. _ AleiiS' Singer showed out momentarily in front six furlongs from home, but fell at the post and rails, and Scornful, who was toiling in the rear, was pulled up. This left Woden. Hokioi and Handy out by themselves. Hokioi just led Handy at the last fence, with Woden coming up. In a good race to the post only heads divided Hokioi. Handy and Woden. Fairfield, Good Mark. Kangi Sarto and Kirkwood finished at intervals. In the Meanee Hack Handicap, Inner Harbour was a very decided favourite, with . Nastori and Essential fairly, well backed. Inner Harbour and Karutahi began best from Coot, Tom Byrne and Nastori. with High Heather squeezed right back. When they settled down Inner Harbour just led Karutahi, Coot, Tom Byrne and Nastori, with Watchman leading the rest. Inner Harbour led at the turn from Coot and Tom Byrne, with Karutahi and Nastori handy. Inner Harbour lasted long enough to win by half a-length from Coot, with Greengrocer four lengths away. t High Heather was fourth, and then came Nastori and Essential. High Heather finished very well after being badly placed early. The Napier Steeplechase saw Crown Coin wind up with nine tickets more than Bonny Rill. Waioeka Jack, jumping wildly, set the pace for half a-mile, and then crashed. This left Kovno (iiid Bonny Rill in front, several lengths clear of Little River. with Crown Coin well back. In this order they ran for nearly two miles. Crown Coin made up his ground gradually over the last round, and was with Kovno and Bonny Rill two fences from homo. Crown Coin led over the last fence, and won easily by two lengths from Bonny Rill, who beat Kovno by a similar margin. Little River cantered in a furlong away. Crown Coin finished very well, and has possibilities as a chaser.

Brigadier Bill and Radiate carried the bulk of the money in the Ladies' Bracelet. Tameterangi led down the straight from Brigadier Bill, Blissfulness. Serenade, Radiate and Perle de Leon. Radiate and Perle do Leon improved their positions half amile from home. Turning into the straight Trimeterangi and Perle do Leon led Brigadier Bill and Radiate. Perle do Leon could not get to Tameterangi. who won easily by two lengths from Perlo de Leon. Brigadier Bill was five lengths away, and then came Radiate and Serenade. The riding of Mr. ,T. Morris was the deciding factor on the winner. Favourite in Third Place. For the Stewards' Stakes Royal Diadem was favourite, but it was a very fair betting race, with good support for Hatlior. Mint Leaf and Road Hog. Road Hoe began smartly, nnd led into the back straight from Gaze, Buoyant, Huikai. Mint Leaf and Hathor. Crossing the top Huikai and Road Hoc Jed from Hathor, Buoyant and Royal Diadem, with Mint Leaf making a move forward on the outside. Huikai had cone out by himself at the turn, with Hathor. Rood Bog and Mint Len f. _ Huikai was overhauled by Mint Leaf in the last stride, the judge awarding a dead-heat, Royal Diadem was three lengths away, third, with Hathor and Ofhon next, and the remaining three in a line Mint Leaf was unlucky, and. but for losinc c round early, he would have won outright. "Rascal was withdrawn because of his sale to a Western Australian owner. The Settlers' Hack Handicap saw Piperenzo a better favourite than Merlo and Kilmezzo Heather Blend led out from Piperenzo. Kilmczo and Grand National. Across the ton Piperenzo showed the way to Heather '.ilend. Grand National. Kilmezzo. Toka and Merle. At tb* turn Merle lust led Piperenzo. Toka. Calluna and Grand National. Toka. a rank outsider, fniled Merle bv two lengths, with Grand National three-anarters of a-length away. Highway. CalltuJh. Piperenzo and Kilmezzo were all well up with the rest DETAILS OF THE RACING. [by telegraph.—rrtEss association.] NAPIER, Saturday.
