INCREASE IN OUTPUT.

FIGURES FOR TEN MONTHS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Department of Agriculture reports that the salted butter graded during May totalled 3195 tons and the unsalted butter 55 tons, compared with 2314 tons of butter and no cheese graded during the corresponding mouth in 1926. A big increase is registered for the 10 months ended May, the figures being 67,458 tons of salted and 2248 tons of unsalted graded, compared with 58,655 and 2818 tons for the corresponding period in the previous season. An" increase of 13 per cent, is registered in the cheese graded last month, the figures being 2549 tons of white and 1499 tons of coloured, compared with 2454 tons and 1599 tons respectively for May, 1926. The figures for the 10 months to May, 1927, were 49,545 tons of white and 25,020 tons of coloured, as compared with 46.258 and 26,209 tons respectively a year ago. Converted into the butter-fat equivalent these figures show an increase of 9.69 per cent, in the butter-fat production for the 10 months just ended, as compared with the previous corresponding period. The butter stocks held in various grading ports on May 31, 1927, were 8710 tons of butter and 9431 tons of cheese, comparer! with 9029 and 10,862 tons respectively for the corresponding period of 1926. The> output of butter at the local factory of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company is double what it was at the corresponding period last year. It is now between nine and ten tons a week. The output for the season shows an increase of 208 tons, the total being 1248 tons.
