THE REV. H. D. A. MAJOR.

SERVICES TO RIPON HALL. To mark the 21st year of the connection of the Rev. H, D. A. Major, D.D., ■with Ripon Hall, Oxford, he was presented recently with a portrait of himself at a reunion of old students. Dr. Major joined the staff of the hall when it was at Ripon, as vice-principal, and became principal when the college was moved to Oxford in 1919. He is examining chaplain to the Bishop of Birmingham and editor of the Modern Churchman. He was at Harvard from 1925 to 1926 as Noble Lecturer. Born in New Zealand in 1871, he took a first class in natural science in the Univeisity of New Zealand. He then went to Exeter College, Oxford, secured a first class in theology, and won the Canon Hall Greek test prize.
