GRAVE SITUATION RESULTS.

MOSCOW'S STRONG NOTE. The wounds inflicted upon the plenipotentiary representative of the Soviet in Poland, Mr. Peter Voikoff, by his youthful Russian assailant at a railway station in Warsaw proved fatal. The assassin was arrested, and stated that he had acted from idealistic motives. His object was to secure revenge for the Soviet's reign of terror against Russian monarchists. When he was attacked Mr. Voikoff drew a revolver and fired blindly at his assailant, but missed him, This action on his part prevented his friends from intervening. When he fell the assassin fired the remaining bullets in his revolver at him, and the victim sustained eight wounds. The murder has created a delicate situation between Russia and Poland. The Soviet deputy-Commissar for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Litvinoff, has handed a strong Note of protest to the Polish Minister at Moscow. The Note blames the Polish Government for not taking the necessary measures against the criminal activities of enemies of the Soviet. The right is reserved to revert to the matter when the Soviet has received exhaustive details of the crime. According to a London newspaper the victim of the crime was implicated in the murder of the Tsar in 1919.
